About us
Our mission
Just Governance exists to make governance knowledge more accessible and to expand who takes part in decision-making in society.
We work with young women, gender-diverse people and those with lived experience to open up pathways into governance, combining practical training with systems-wide advocacy to create more inclusive and just governance in Australia.

Our story
Just Governance was founded in 2025 in response to a clear problem in governance education in Australia. Most programs are expensive, complex or designed for people with existing knowledge of what boards do.
This means that young people or those with lived experience are often excluded from these spaces.
We also observed a lack of accessible pathways into board roles, leaving capable people excluded from leadership.
What We Do
Informed by ongoing conversations with women, gender-diverse people, and those with lived experience, we create accessible pathways into governance — equipping participants with the skills and support to establish their own organisations or apply for board roles.
We also work with organisations to run training programs, upskill thier boards or learn about inclusive governance.

Who we are
Just Governance is a social enterprise dedicated to expanding governance understanding and embedding inclusive governance across community, not-for-profit, and social enterprises in Australia.
Founded by Dr Kath Hall, an internationally recognised governance expert, we work with aspiring leaders and for-purpose organisations to build boards that reflect the communities they serve.
In March 2026 we appointed our board.
